About the Ground Zero Heroes of Florida:
We are associated with The "Fealgood Foundation"
The goal of this communication is to introduce and explain to you a new organization being created here in the State of Florida, and quite frankly, we need your attention.
As many of us are familiar, Florida has been a place, where countless retirees choose to live after leaving the work force. During the 9/11 event in NYC and its subsequent aftermath, thousands of Police, Fire and Construction workers labored tirelessly at Ground Zero and the Staten Island Landfill (where the rubble was sorted). Thousands of these American Hero’s are now displaying illnesses and some have died from a wide variety of diseases they contracted due to their working conditions and efforts during this difficult time for our Country. Many like myself, have already relocated to Florida. And perhaps many more will soon follow. The weather and attractiveness of Florida and affordable living will prevail in their decision making.
While, back in New York there are many programs that currently monitor groups of the Ground Zero Workers through treatment and health exams. Like the Lenox Hill Hospital of Manhattan and Mount Sinai Medical Center. We strongly feel the need for similar program(s) to help and assist the men and women who have since moved to Florida and now call this State Home.
This is primarily why a group of former Ground Zero workers have created the,” 9/11 Rescue and Recovery Workers of Florida”. This organization will be comprised solely with workers from the Law Enforcement community, as well as Firefighters, and Construction trade workers who worked tirelessly at Ground Zero or the Staten Island Landfill on 9/11 and during the subsequent recovery and cleanup campaign. The” 9/11 Rescue and Recovery Workers of Florida has chosen to form an Associate Board filled with recognizable and some prominent Floridians who can support our cause or render some assistance to us. We also have formed a Political Committee whose primary function will be to aggressively endorse those Candidates who express a willingness to support our cause and grant us assistance as needed.
Our Board of Directors anticipates that our membership numbers will increasingly grow rapidly into the hundreds and perhaps thousands in the months or years to come. We know that our supporters should reach into the thousands as soon as we begin our Public campaign and word of our Organization spreads throughout the local and State level. This State of Florida has many retirees from Law Enforcement, Firefighters and Military Personnel, and Construction Trades who have already expressed positive feedback and interest in participation.
